Мета: ознайомлення з новим лексичним матеріалом; формування фонетичних навичок та вмінь; розвиток діалогічного мовлення; розвиток навичок вибіркового читання; розширення знань учнів про мистецтво і митців країни, мова якої вивчається.

Тип уроку: засвоєння нових знань.

Procedure

1. The beginning of the lesson.

• Organization

Children can ask any question.

2. The main part of the lesson.

• Checking the homework.

(Pupils represent their projects about environment. )

• The theme and the aims of the lesson.

Teacher: Today we will speak about art, famous English painters. We will read the text about some pictures and find necessary information.

Training.

 Pair work

• Are you interested in art?
• Painting and sculpture are visual arts, aren`t they?
• What world-famous artists do you know?
• Who is your favorite painter?
• Which of the two genres – portrait or landscape painting – attracts you more?
• Do you know any British museum?
• Do you ever go to picture galleries and art museums? Which galleries/ museums?
• Where can you see sculptures?
• Do you think photography can be called a visual art?
• Have you ever tried your hand at any of these three arts – painting, sculpture and photography?

Before reading task (lexical work)

аn arrangement –етюд, розташування;

a shadow – тінь;

a victim – жертва;

to absorb – увібрати, абсорбувати;

to affect – впливати;

to enliven – надихати;

to float – плавати;

sheer – явний, абсолютний;

significant – важливий;

to catch smb`s breath – зловити чиєсь дихання;

to make smb`s gasp – змусити когось відкрити рот від подиву;

to feel a lump in a smb throat – відчувати ком в горлі;

to pore over something with delight – зосередитись на чомусь із захопленням;

to put into words – виразити словами;

to be sinking out of sight – погрузитися у погляд.
